Peter Perez grew up in the suburbs of New York City with an adventurous mother who took him to fine dining establishments and art museums from a young age. Post-graduation from NYU, his first job was working for high-end bookstore chain Rizzoli. A move to San Francisco led to many years in corporate retail buying in the book, gift, stationery, and kitchen furnishings categories for national chains The Nature Company, Discovery Channel Store, and Williams-Sonoma.
After an initial stint at Chronicle Books as sales manager for custom publishing and specialty retail accounts, Perez was hired back after his tenure at Williams-Sonoma to oversee marketing and publicity of cookbooks and stationery products. At Chronicle he worked with many high-profile authors and brands (Chad Robertson, Michael Chiarello, Weber, Bravo’s Top Chef, Esquire, Marimekko, Tom Petty), and on major campaigns including New York Times bestsellers Cake Pops, Top Chef, Tartine Bread, and Plenty. Peter now heads public relations at UC Press.
